KATHMANDU, JUL 07 -

Former King Gyanendra Shah on Thursday expressed his sadness over what he said 'a worsening situation of the country ' after he quit the throne.

Speaking to the media persons at a function organised to celebrate his 65th birth anniversary, at his residence, Nirmal Niwas, Kathmandu, the deposed king said the country has edged towards further crisis after the abolishment of the monarchy.

“I had not thought that the situation like this would prevail following the abolishment of monarchy, but i pray for the peace and prosperity of Nepali people,” Gyanendra said.

However, Shah mentioned that there is still no need to get frustrated at the present context. “We should not be pessimistic. One should not expect miracles overnight,” he said.

Shah chose to ignore the queries raised by the media persons regarding the five-point deal, peace process, and constitution. “You know about it better than I do,” said Shah in little exasperated tone.

Stating about a press statement that he released at the same program he said, “I have written all my views about the country in the statement. Please let the people know about it.”

Nirmal Niwas was alive with royalists, cadres of Rastriya Prajatantra Party – Nepal (RPP-N), a pro-Monarchy party, and other relatives of the former King during the birth anniversary celebration.

Balla gaito ma gaam lagecha hamra gammaka pareka Gyanu Maharaajko..... vanthe nii,people get too wise when its too late ta-ra ambush ma pareko police chewgum padkauda tarsinxa vane jasto...yesta yesta rajaka deeply concerned sentiments haru padera janata feri tarselaan....sabai vasma vayepachi antimma aago nivauna ek lota paani bokera leraune hamro rajakiya sanskaar nai ho kyare vanchu ma.
