I know a sister, who was nurse back home. After taking some extra classes, she was able to apply for the Nursing License. It wasn't easy to enroll in those classes though. She waited for a while and followed up. Now, she works for a hospital in California.
You know beautigrl, to do good in US, you should ask what you don't know. Don't be shy. There are lots of good people out there. Be positive. If you need support, we have a whole community on Sajha.
Take care.

It is normal to feel frustrated but saathi ho have patience. As long as you use your time here constructively and not waste it, that is what matters. You can still educate yourself later, it is never too late. Work hard and save up.

I also have not realised my ambition yet and have postponed it. But i have to be patient. :). Plan properly and if you have to go back to achieve your goals and ambitions, do just that. But work on a plan.

 Beautigirl,
If you're interested in doing private nursing care for someone, let me know. I can give you more details only if you're interested. The husband and wife, both are lawyers who worked with immigration. They may be able to help you with your status and you can also gain some nursing experience. I don't know anything about pay or other benefits. I'm sure that's something you could negotiate with them. Let me know.

This may one day become a "missed" opportunity for you long term success rather than short term. You should carefull think of the scenario where you are about to become illegal and here you have 2 options..

1. No H-1- real experience - as you assume
2. Immigration (retired lawyer) - think about someone Nepal -a retired lawyer- your uncle- who knows most of the people in the judiciary system and your best friends want a new passport. You ask you uncle and he calls his student of long time ago who now works in the passport department. He calls the guy..your friend gets the passport. This is a similar situation here. You have to read the story carefully to jump into conclusion. If I was you, I'd take it whole-heartedly. Why?
Becuase I have an immigration problem that I know that no other Nepali can fix- whether it is someone in sajha or someone in my phone/email list. Now I have a retired immigration lawyer working on behalf of me. All I need to do is to live with him/her- learn a lot of new things- and perhaps get my immigration thing done. Just my opinion.
