this is an open internet forum. if you wanted private consulation, you should have contacted an immigration lawyer. looks like you did not read a piece of paper called "welcome to the US" that should have been given to you with your green card. that piece of paper has a lot of information about your rights and responsibilities as a permanent resident.

students who have invested a lot of time, money and effort in their studies and do not have a residency status despite being highly educated would value greencard more than you do bro! probably you got it through lottery as a gift without having to work hard for it so you dont care much!

if you didnt come to the US for greencard, i suggest you stop asking question here about the same and renounce your residency of the US and go back to Nepal for good!

peace out!

If he got through lottery he won't be having visa I guess . He went through aos, not sure abt category though.

If he would have been through roughness to get GC , he should have enough khow how's abt GC and would have went many time to uscis site.

Any way u won't need anything, other then valid passport and GC.

However I heard that once Feds hold guy for fake marriage thing @ POE.

Oh wow, thanks for all the incredible replies on my post! All I did was asked a simple question (well at least to all of you it was a simple question but not to me), instead of replying in courteous manner I don't get why people kept bashing me.
Just because you know the past, present, and the future of GC, does not make you an eligible one and just cause I did not read the letter does not make me less eligible one. At least I was being honest and also referred myself as "dumb" for not knowing a simple answer to a question. So, I do not need you guys to remind me about my negligence and moreover write stories about hardships of International students. I know their stories because I was one of them and I am still one of them.

You don't know me nor my story! So, quit making judgmental comments!

To those people who gave straight answer to my question, Thank you!

This thread shows too much negativity, leg pulling and distrust in general.

It's possible that the person starting the thread is a person going to college in a suburb and does not have too many contacts with other immigrants. It's possible that the person got married and got hold of green card and is not sure how it impacts his/her travel.

Some people for whom Green card means a lot feels like the question is the height of ignorance, but it may surprise them to know that Green card is not as important to everyone.

To the original poster, once you have a green card it means you have a green light to enter the US as and when you please. You may or not know it, but if you have a green card you need to come back to the US within 6 months, unless you have a very good reason to stay away. They will allow you to stay out for maximum of 1 year but you need to prove that you want to be a US resident if you want to keep your green card. After 5 years you can apply to become a US citizen if you don't want to deal with such restrictions.
