OK so I'm trying to sell my car online via craiglist and got a email asking more info about the car and I replied and heres their reply agn:
Good to have your reply,Well it a very good idea to see what i want to
buy for my self but i want you to know that i am not around for now as
i have just been posted out due to the very nature of my work but i
want you to be rest assured as i will arranging for the pick up agent
who will be inspecting the car and get the title and particulars thing
taken care of so all, With the issue of details, transferring the name
of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by my pick up
agent so you don't have to worry about that...i' am okay with the
stated price but i can only make the payment via PayPal..You can now
send me your PayPal email so i can pay in
right away and also include your address in your reply... Hope to hear
from you soon

This made me kinda suspicious(which im most of d tym) why would someone send third person when hes spending big amount of money (at least for me :P ) $6500. And I havent had provided much info either like vin# not evn picture just told him about mileage and yr and he says hes ready to buy..well he did say he will send someone to inspect but..all these made me more suspicious...im sure going to tell him I'll prefer cashier's chk or money order but still what do you guyz think? Does it sound fraud on first sight or could it be not? If he says he can only do paypal should i accept? well I'm not in rush to sell my car so maybe I'll pass just to b in safe side.

The guy's a scam artist. Just ignore the email. If you're feeling adventurous or playing the role of a good samaritan, ask him to give him your number and disclose more info and help getting him nabbed.

He is a fraud man. You might also get email from paypal they receive payment for you and it will be credited to your account after you handover item to sender.

Keep insisting to have a test drive or send the agent fisrt to have a test drive first then you will pass your paypal email address for payment.  Never ever pass your financial information either checking or paypal.

Sell locally posting on local craigslist. Do not go to privet place to show your car. Meet on public place and have a friend with you.

beware of scam alert on craigslist... always deal in-person while selling anything on craiglist..... i've sold tons of stuffs on craigslist and always get those scam emails abt paying thru paypal.. etc... I always avoid them...you should avoid them as well.

Of course, PAYPAL is safe, what's not safe is innocent/dumb victims who fall prey to those scammers.
This is how they work,
 1. They send you a payment to your paypal either through stolen paypal account or of those whose a/c got phished to their scheme. Or
they want you to click on the link to confirm the payment(PHISHING!!!)
 2. You'll see the pending status of received payment on your paypal and you'd think it's legit. (Behind your back, they now have access to
your paypal account if you happened to click one of the links they've  sent).
 3. Someone wil deliberately call you using fakes names, so-called agents come and pick up your vehicle.
 4. They probably de-assemble your vehicle into parts and sell it.
 5. Few hours, later you'll see there is no pending status on your paypal account because the real owner of the account reported or
     something like that.
 6. Or if it's their own a/c, they'll create the dispute and may say they never received the vehicle and such.
 7. Eitherway, your f**k'd up big time, someone stole your car right under your nose.

I like to mess with these scammers, I play by their rules and many of these are such smartass rascals, they concede even before the game begins. They figure out somehow that I'm with Law Enforcement or something like that.

Paypal is definitely safe, just beware of these digital-age criminals/thieves out there.
