Few of my experiences after I got back to Kathmandu, Nepal.
- Without me asking for help, this guy grabs my baggages and puts into a trolley, and starts pushing the trolley. I told him that I could carry them myself. After the bags went through the detector, he start asking for dollars!
- apparently taxis don't use meter anymore. it was flat rate, and I could feel the infletion. They were asking for more than thousand rupees from airport to Nayabazar, which is not that far! In fact everything is expensive compared to what it was like five years ago.
- riding on taxi felt like off road driving.
- oh the blackouts or load sheddings, half of the houses on route were semi dark, and no road lights.
- The cars, motorcycles, people use the same road and it was all chaotic. IT was true survivor of the fitest. honk! honk!
- People, shops play music loud for everyone to hear.
- I went to temple with family this morning, and the rivers are all polluted with sewers. They could have built big parallel tunnels across main rivers to drain sewers from homes. It wont' be that expensive project.
- Internet is faster than what it used to be. DSL is common in homes in Kathmandu now. No more dial-ups, and the speed is just fine.

I just felt like writing something, sorry if I'm bashing this place, I want to see it get better.

well its developing and its everything to ppl who stay here. you were fortunate to not go thru much more than ppl who stayed here have.. least you dont have to face the untimely bandh or the 18 hrs of loadshedding.. But then you got scammed regarding the taxis cause they normally go by meter.. and  charge your accordingly..

People dont seem to honk when they need to.. i myself was about to have a bike accident.. so yes its definitely not like the states.. but its home.. if you cannot stand it stand up for it :) if not adjust with it

(With due respects to Sajhaguy69's feelings)

You knew everything what will be the situation in Nepal. You spent your childhood and youth in back home. It's not like you are visiting to  Nepal for the first time. We know everything about Nepal even we live abroad. you sounded like you are surprized with the situtation in Nepal. I wish I am in Nepal to celebrate our festival Dashain & Tihar with families. I don't care whatever the situation over there.

I remember a poem which we studied in school Ikshyaa/ desire. Manche lai jati bhaye pani pugdai na................
