Are you in Amway Business?

Amway is a multi-billion dollar company and lot of people have made and are making fortune out of this. Amway partnes with big name companies like Best buy, AT&T, Target and many others. I have a friend whose friend made her, in Amway terms, an IBO (Independent Business Owner). Now my friend showed me what they call - 'a plan'. She invited me to a weekly meeting where they preached some more about the business and how they are on the way to success. She handed me some CDs with some successful people telling how they got there. I also have few books she gave me which basically are motivational books and actually are not that bad! In this meeting, I went to I asked if this is a netwrok business recruting people, they say, this is not a network business or a pyramid scheme. I have yet to fully understand the whole concept of how you grow the business and make money.
I'm bit skeptical and not sure about getting too deep into this business at this point.

Registration fee: $300 (90 day payback)

Now I am wondering if any of you reading this is in Amway business. has anyone approached you? If you know the 'Plan' please share.

Sounds like a scam. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

@bolyokipolyo: it is not a scam if you know how to play it right, BUT to be successful in this, you have to build network and convince people to join Ambay, and the only way those people you recruited can make money (plus you getting a part of the share whenever any of their recruits join) is when they convince other people to join Ambay. So its kind of a networking game. Some people have made a great deal of money out of this and I do not dispute that, but I simple think this is not my cup of tea.

I was given a very detailed explanation of how the systems works in this by one of ambay's very successful and active members - to be sucessful in Ambay extreme hard work is essential to convince people to join Ambay and also convince these same people that they can make money out of Ambay by recruiting more people. Of course Ambay has a tons of products and services that the members can use for a little dicsounted price, but the primary money making scheme is through networking and recruting.

I'm still getting 19% discount on my ATT bill even though I didn't renew my membership. Overall, this Networking business kinda sucks. You have to convince a lotta people which I found very awkward. I became a member because one of my friend who's about thousand miles away "CONVINCED" me to become one( about a dozen calls everyday for like a week). Now, when I call back dude doesn't pick up. Apparently, he ain't happy coz I didn't renew my membership!

 NOWAY!!!

not a single nepali that has become member of Amway that I know has made ANY money. making money from there is like getting drafted in the NBA; handful make it and a majority dont!

whoever is pitching this idea is simply trying to expand his network and make you a "baali ko boka"

Nope. Dont ever go to this business. I joined to this business couple of years ago. I paid around 359 dollar at that time. I went for couple of meetings after that. Basically, you need to find new people and tell them to join. The more you join, the more money you make. But, it sucks at the end. You need to participate in all the meetings. It sucks bro. I won't recommend you to join in this business at all. And, you never earn a penny. What you do is buy their products instead of buying from best buy or from wallmart. I quit after a month. And, I got around 200 back. They gave me a shit of products which was useless. This business sucks.

It was because of this guy (stranger) that I met in 711 store closeby who introduced himself,
looked very friendly, and assured me that if I come to the conference, it would be a very good business opportunity,
how I coudl make big bucks, bla bla bla, and asked me to wear business suit for the conference.
So I went to one of their introductory meeting held in a nice hotel conference room in Virginia.
I found bunch of Indian folks along with other folks wearing business dress trying hard to convince the participants.
I remember one of them was saying that he just upgraded his car from Lexus to BMW lol. At the tiem I didn't have car, and it did sound too good to be true.
After the event, I felt that I wasted my time, and in a way lied to.
I was pretty naive as I had only been to the US for less than a year.

For most people it may seem easy, but the reality, I think, is way different.
I just find it awkward that your friend (!) told you that Amway is not a pyramidal scheme.
Like all pyramid scheme, people who benefit are those on the top, those few people who have been with the scheme since the beginning.
Most people can't go on with the activites, dedication and time needed to garner profit.
By now, I would think that most people are aware of these business scheme, (there's also dateline show exposing how fradulant these pyramidal scheme is),
so it would be hard to get good number of people to sign up, hence in the end, frutration craves in, you lose your friends in most cases.

It's not a scam, if you know how to play with it. I had been approached by many, but I am not a kind of person to handle that business. You have to CONVINCE people to join you, otherwise you get nothing. You will grow stronger when the people you convince will convince other people who will convince some other people. You have to be the Cold-Calling person. However, even if you succeed at the beginning, it will get frustrating once you go higher and then you start fighting for business with the people you previously convinced. I know all these because I have a close relative in the same buiness. He calls me, now, but doesn't talk about Amway. You can check this out :

Don't join. If you do you will be running after people all the time. At the end you will realize how much time and money you have spent. I spent about 5 months and realized it was not for me. Its not a scam but its really hard to make money out of Amway.

NO WAY DUDE. I registered once and trust me, this is a total bullshit. Don't waste your time and money on this. They try to make it sound like it is different then other pyramid scheme. It is not a scam though. You WILL get some discounts on cell phone bill, movie tickets, and etc but this is not easy. You just can't convince people and you have to go to EACH and EVERY BORING MEETINGS.

WOW!
Another thing is in one of the meeting I went to I mostly saw Asians (Pakistanis, Srilankan, Indian and Nepali). And they talked about BMW and yatch and high rise condos and stuffs. They I believe are selling the dream and most people on top make money by selling books and CDs.
Thanks you for sharing Videos and your experiences. My answer to this business - NO WAY!
