Some people say there are 4 seasons. Some people say there are 6 season. The ones I know, in no particular order are Basanta ritu, hemanta ritu, hiudh ritu, bharsha ritu.

So we can say: Dec-Jan -- Hiud Feb-Mar -- Basanta Apr-May-- Barsa Jun-Jul -- Grisma Aug-Sep -- Shishir Oct-Nov -- Hemanta Is that right?

English Month Nepali Months Nepali Season (Ritu) Mid December and January Mungshir-Paush Hemanta Ritu " February and March Chatra-Baishakh Basanta " " April and May Shrawan-Bhadra Barsha " " June and July Jeshtha-Ashadh Grishma " " August and September Magh-Phalgun Shishir " " October and November Aswin-Kartik Sharad " I hope this answers your question. I am sure there are some who will disagree with me. It is difficult to reach agreement on this topic. Most Nepalis do not give this much thought. So go easy. If you want to get complicated ask about the Buddhist calendar which has many more months and seasons.

Perphaps Lekhanath Paudel would have better knowledge of our Ritus than any of us. I got the months from his poems as well as from a nepali barhakhari kitab.
