Go Holland..!! Dick Advocaat has put up a very good squad, I specially liked his selection of Ajax and emerging star Rafael van der Vaart. This guy can score some superb goals as he did for Ajax. Arjen Robben will have a very less chance of playing unless some injury to Van the Man or Patrick Kluivert. But I would prefer putting him alongside Van the Man just because Patrick Kuivert has not been in his best of form for Barca where as Robben was in superb form for PSV. Edgar Davids will definitely reign supreme in midfield and so will Seedorf. They will both be back from injury but will not play the Germany game. Van Bommel will have a chance to prove his selection. Zenden and Cocu have all been classic at their day. I would put Overmars on the right hand side of the midfield and Van Der Vaart on the left hand side giving quality crosses to Van Nistelrooy, who is class in the air and to Kluivert whose finishing touches are simply gorgeous. Surprising that Frank De Boer got selected, but Jaap Stam will be hard to beat in the defence. Reiziger was outstanding for Barcelona. I think Holland's the clear favorite to claim the trophy. England choked again. :) Only thing they can do is now rely on their hooliganism ;). As much as I like England, France is still my dream team ever since they dismantled Brazil with great proficiency in 98' final. ZZ is still the best player on the planet. I haven't followed soccer for a long long long time......really miss those days waking up in the wee hours and following the games.......damn life changes at a blink of an eye :S |

WHAT THE FREAKING SHIT!!!!!!! cant u ppl be a bit more sensible on his...if u really consider urself a football fan ..u know this isnt about choking or anything..its just some freaking curse and luck!!..a team chokes if it doesnt play well...Enland played a dyammm good game..france didnt even have one clear shot at goal until that freekick... Oyschill.. and Casey.. England deserved to win that game n u should know that, they played well through out and u could see they were playin with extra zeal, though it wavered abit in the end which it does for all teams after an energy consuming competition, a mistake was made by certain England players in the final minutes..they didnt choke...just coz of a players mistake doesnt mean the whole team friggin choked..they dont have to rely on their friggin hooliganism u understand..u know England have fine players n they got chance of gettin far... give credit where its due man, they played well... jeeeeeeez...of course France are a mighty team, class players..its easy to support the best team in the world n gloat over othrs defeats, we all know thats so easy, so why friggin downgrade England when in fact u should be applauding them for their worthy efforts, cz we all know in the final minutes b4 the shits happened that in our minds we was thinkn, England have done it, they've beaten the mighty french n they deserved to win aftr that show of determination...so u lot..french lovers...give credit where its due..Beckham is worth it understood..he played well..just cz he didnt get the penalty..he didnt miss it, he didnt sky it, lucky Barthez went the right way n made the save..can happen to the best of players..understood.. U miss a freebie...against a great team like France and you still think they deserved it!!!...I think France had edge on the game...they failed to score in first 90 mins...but after Zidane made that super free kick..u know England would be feelings the heat....anyway the better team won so its all good..all justice done.. WT!! casey!! kay bhaneyko!! did i watch the match...with ur eyes open??? forget the hype shit etc... cos well from what i know...france wsa the one saying ...we will win etc(yap they did eventualy but wit lots of lady luck..)....but the faces of frustrations..didn u see of those bloody frenchies...complaing about a lit bit pof push here..push there..one good thing known about english football is that they play...tough ..but clean...they dun resort to 'cheating' tactics like most other teams..(well maybe smtimes they do..but well whats cheating a bit with cheaters hoina?? but i still havent seen enland cheating...) their toughness might be considered as hooliganism..wt!!...if thats the case..im a hooligan too.(but im not tough..just a wannabe..) a football match is about 90 minutes(and a bit of extra time) were u sleeping the whole freaking...90 minutes...cos france was getting their arse whipped...and then woke up just at the 90th min to see that free kick goal..and then a min later..the penalty??..the team that well..got a bit lucky(damn!!! infact) in the alst few minutes..u call that..JUSTICE!!..they had and edge?? yap...they had...freaking...frustrated edge on themselvs..cos tghey had talked so much..but couldnt do anything....but it the end..guess..that magical freekick did it..(i still go no fraking idea!! why no defended stood in the post!!!!!)...and which team ..u tell me will not be unnerved..wehn they well..played so well..and well was a min away from winning..and such a thing happened??...u dun ever freaking say...a team deserves to win...a match just cos they playe well for the last 2 mins..!!l if u watched the whole freaking match..u would have seen how confindently...the english players were..and it showed by the way they played... just well..make sure...u do remember to open ur eyes..if u ever get a chance to watch a replay..btw the english team is the one wearing white if u didnt know...and nope france didnt change their strips...to blue in the dying minutes... dyamm this match reminds me of the Champs leauge...between Man Utd..Vs Bayern Munich...i was supporting the english team..though its not me team..but man was i well a bit sad for the poor Munich...and now seeing smthing like that happen to ur own team..dyam!! it doesnt feel good... anyways whats there to be seen is in the match.,...all clear..just see it...no use aguing about it....as im blind in lop...u might be blind in ur lop for france.... so.... cheers..... |

the onli edge the French has was the baldy one.. ZZ.. the one whose initals reminds u of sleep.. and whose skills u can only ever dream of... all of u pple have french arrogance shoved up ur ass.. and surprisingly it managed to travel all the way up to ur heads.. give credit where it's due pple.. England battled hard... and that's what mattered for that match... juz cos a few pple cocked up... don't mean teh whole team is to be blamed.. now think of it in other terms.. what if Becks had scored THAT penalty??? England would've won it... now now.. dun try denying that... cos if they had played as they did through out the match.. they'd have at least managed a draw.. no wait a min.. lemme rephrase that.. the French would've edged out a draw.. not the english... but then again, they prob woul've been more focused and would have won it in the end... hmm... for that matter, what if ZZ had missed the penalty... basically, to miss a penalty, it's luck.. to get it saved... it's luck.. to even score it is luck... and that's what the french had today.. the luck and skill of ZZ.. well good luck to them.. in the future that is.. |

casey.. i know stats dun lie. but have u even watched the match?? even had glimpses of it at all?? even bothered staying up.. where u are.. to watch it at all.. There is something called injury time which is part of the total time..so I dont know where you came with that conclusion. I have to say that France was the better team, without doubt and they won. To say that France didn't had one clear shot at goal is not right. Possesion wise they were the better team. Zidane and Vierra are the best midfielders in the world. Through out the first half, they dominated the proceedings. England had one clear chance and lucky the head of lampard touched a quality Beckam delivery. Otherwise, France simply outclassed England. Yes, England played good in defence, but that is the most that they could produce. Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney does not have enough class to beat the French defence and Zidane, Pires and Vierra are far more athletic then Beckam, Scholes and Lampard. It was that quality right in the centre of the park for the French that won them the game today. |

I used to like beckham a lot . these days he is pain in the ass . I feel he just comes in for show off .motherF&&&ker should be replaced by more energetic keiron dyer or owen hargreaaves . Hello there "Soccer" fans!!! what a game I saw? It was treat to see the Frech doing the mad dance on the Englishmen. My bar was crowded with scores of fans from both the sides. It was great an experience to see how much these fans enjoyed themselves. More so the t-shirst they sported included from englsh league to Bundesleague. Couple of hours from now Italy would be taking on Danes. And then the yellow Sweden would be taking on Bulgaria. Will update you all on what I felt on these matches as they finish. Cheers! Ed Hunter, It doesn't looks like you believe in the team you are supporting. That is why you need our acknowledgement that England played good or better than France. You just do not have enough faith in the team you are supporting, so you want our recognization that it is a good team. Come on man, if you support one team, and the team looses, you are not going to complain about why the people who prefered the other team are celebrating. Sukuti bro.. if i din't believe in my team, i wouldn't either be supporting em or even replying to your posts.. I beleive in them.. that's why i want people to acknowledge how good a team they are and how great their potential is.. True.. it's the overall results that mattered.. and England lost.. So there..!! Ax...England hasnt won a major title for a while..(too long)...but that doesnt mean it wont...the time will come (could be now!!...yes it is now!!well...i hope it is..:D)...as its supporter i can only hope that it will win every tournament it is in...but well in tournnaments we do need that thing call luck too...which England always seem to lack..and seeing how the 1st match went.not much hope of that stupid lady luck ever smiling at me team..but who knows..2 more matches to go..we are still not out yet....the game is still on... I agree with Playa. Scoring just once against French and just sitting back defending is very negative approach. So they say, "attack is the best form of defence". One goal is not enough to beat this mighty France team, as has been the case plenty of times. They will come back and haunt you down. England could have easily claimed the game had they continue to pour in and try to attack France even more. Not allowing them enough opportunity to take even their defenders forward. There was a big gap between a lone Striker Owen and their defense, which allowed France plenty of possesion in the midfield. They relied on counter attack which never came because of French midfielders with players like Vierra, ZZ, Pires and Makalele. England have the firepower to beat the best in the world. Question is, Is Sven Goran Errickson, attacking enough?? BTW superb comeback from Holland today. They seem to be coming good at the right time through full of young attacking guns. Lets go Holland.!!! |

This just came in.... Francesco Totti may be sent home...He should be sent home for spitting on Poulsen during the match, Denmark - Italy. Unfortunately Totti has always been a excellent footballer but lacks brains. He should be really sent home. I'm a die hard fan of Italy but something like this shouldn't be tolerated. Just shows money and fame doesn't give one a little bit of common sense, he should have known better and deserves what he will get. Mist, what lesson are you talking about? As far as soccer is concerned, all the european teams are almost at the same standard. I don't think anyone takes anyone for granted. Yes, once in a while they outplay "brazil" n "argentina" or get outplayed by them. Besides that, there isn't much to separate between the teams. I like France simply because they beat Brazil in the 98 finals. I love Sweden cause they almost beat brazil in the 94. I hate Italy and Germany cause they have beaten argentines a few times :P. so it goes, but once you have allegiance to some teams. U can't switch. I have always liked England especially during those gascoigne (sp?) era. if they had beaten germany in the 90', they would still be my fav. team :). now its only wishful thinkin they might win some big games and show that they are not jus hype like their cricket team, and tim henman generate :) |

Interesting AX bro, we always root for the rivals when it comes to sports :) that makes life a little more interesting. I wanted to see games in big screen in that irish pub but they charge 25 dollars for each game, so i gave up the idea. I haven't seen any of the games and decide whom to root for. Holland has been one of the best teams in the history of soccer never to win the big stage. (or did they win one EU?. Van basten was one of my fav players during his prime. Germany to me is like SPURS in basketball :P; having said that the unpredictable French become the lakers no? Having said that all, my sentimental favourite is Sweden. So there you go AX bro. .Those who missed Holland vs Cze, they really missed the real match. The first 3 goals within the first 23 minutes...... well German will have tough time with them. ENG vs CRO Referee: COLLINA Well !!! this EURO is bringing up an unpredictable results. Let's not forget it. Squeezing into the Q-finals has become the most important thing right now for all the teams. Predicting the winner of Euro'04 is like someone saying "FRANCE will WIN".... someone here shouting "ENGLAND will win" or.. so on. Just calm down. I do believe that the odds for CROATIA might have been increased by now. No one is 100% sure about tonight match. switch on the TV to a channel showing a live soccer match and start doing the kabbadi from the start of the match till the end... u'll surely get it by then.. :D u might even go into some extra time of the game.. or if u are lucky, maybe even up till the golden ball rules or, better still, all the way to the penalty shoot outs.. by then hopefully u would still have enough breath to have start breathing normally and exclaim to urself what a great game u have juz watched... hehehehe... P.S: i'm juz talking BS.. ignore me.. :P |

Guys, Whats this rambling about Match fixation eh? You guys really think the 2-2 draw was fixed between the nations to oust Italy? I think, the feelings might have been there amongst the players, but looking at the match recap, it sure wasn't a fixed game. Enlighten me, I am not catching up with soccer now a days. Both of my fav teams, Italy and Germany are out. I guess the solace is on knowing that Nestelroy's team is still in. |

nay.. i dun think any of the teams played it out to fix the scores... the're professionals for Christ's sake.. and anyway, blame it on the Italians for not finishing off the job off in the first place.. noone else but themselves left to blame.. too bad... well there's still the rest of the teams left though.. The lack of finishing laid the Germans down today no question. I don't see any great striking talent for Germany since the great Jurgen Klinsmann. There is vast difference between the side that had the luxury of dominating the soccer world, if not atleast through out the european Giants, for decades. This is probably the most bismal German performance since years. Besides Michael Ballack, who continuously proved to be the one man army, nothing seemed right for the Germans. There was clear cut chances that could and should have been converted. Kevin Kuranyi, and Miroslav Klose, both were wrong picks as strikers for Rudi Voeller. Sneider and Frings, were out of touch and Oliver Kahn should now think of retirment. He can no longer protect with his old soldiers and pretty slacky reflexes. Only Ballack gives hopes for a bright future, which otherwise looks dim. Voeller should provide young bloods to the team. Bring back the times of an all out German attack. Go for what they used to and not get intimidated by any teams, but make teams intimidated. Put out strikers up front. Kuranyi was all by himself and the cross was collected easily by the keeper. He could do nothing about it. Make a very strong midfield headed by Ballack. There is plenty of talent roaring to go. Do not sit back for the old horses. Mix e'm up, ! Pull 'em out of the Bundesliga, Rudi. |

England's game in the second half was DISAPPOINTING. It was a good decision by the Portugese Coach to withdraw FIGO at that moment. POR deserved their victory. They have showed a great determination and confidence over the whole span of 2 hrs. Ronaldo, the winger is magnificent. Costa's goal was one of the best in such a crucial moment. All Portugese players were outstanding. Congratulations to PORTUGAL , and Gudl luck in Semi FINAL too. |

Reminds me of Roberto Baggio and Maradona. All three (including Beckham) were able to decieve the keeper but overshot the ball. About Beckham being over rated..umm..probably. But salary wise he ain't. He makes more money than any other soccer player because of endorsement and may be his looks and involvement with Sporty Spice (?) might have aided on that (besides that Punjabi movie). |

Finding a Coach at this moment is the huge headache for them. Franz Beckenbauer, who fired Hitzfeld in May, said "only one man can do it and that's Ottmar Hitzfeld". i doubt if thats the right thing, to go back to Hitzfeld. And looking at the players at the moment, Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, the captain of both Bayern and Germany will not last for long. Kevin Kuranyi, 20, is likely to remain the No. 1 striker despite his poor Euro. Lukas Podolski, 19, played little in Portugal but could return to the squad.
